Located in the heart of Ensenada’s Zona Centro, La Concheria is a standout seafood restaurant that captures the essence of Baja California’s coastal culinary treasures. From the moment you step inside, the atmosphere envelops you in a cozy and intimate setting, where the passion for authentic, fresh seafood is palpable. This is not just dining; it’s a sensory journey into the Pacific’s most exquisite flavors.
La Concheria’s menu is a celebration of the ocean’s bounty, spotlighting a range of dishes that balance tradition with innovative touches. Whether you’re indulging in their famed Giga Oysters—served chilled and bursting with briny freshness—or savoring the sumptuous Pasta de Mariscos rich with the delicate essence of shellfish, each plate tells a story of local sourcing and masterful preparation. The Tiradito de Atún Aleta Azul, when available, offers a sublime experience: silky slices of bluefin tuna drenched in bright, citrusy marinades that awaken the palate. Equally irresistible is their Mixed Ceviche, a vibrant mosaic of octopus, clams, and fresh fish, harmonized with zesty and herbaceous notes.
Dishes like the Fideo Seco Con Salsa de Poblano featuring steamed mussels or clams, and the hearty yet elegant Clam Chowder Soup showcase La Concheria’s skillful melding of flavors and textures. For a taste of pure indulgence, their Prawns in White Wine and the uniquely crafted Pasta de Abulon are a must-try, while the live abalone and clam selections highlight the freshest possible ocean harvests.
Customers consistently praise the authenticity and quality of the offerings. Kyle calls his meal “one of the best, if not the best, meals of my life,” noting the staff’s warmth and the chef’s humble yet flawless execution. Another guest, Garrett, emphasizes the restaurant’s commitment to sourcing from superior suppliers—“not from mercado negro”—ensuring every bite reflects genuine freshness and care. This dedication resonates in every dish, making La Concheria a trusted go-to spot for seafood lovers who appreciate authenticity over flashiness.
Aside from the standout food, the beverage selection complements the menu beautifully, featuring local beers and refreshing options like house-made kombucha and sparkling mineral waters. Their attentive and accommodating service, as mentioned by Jose Mario Hank who was even allowed to bring dessert from a nearby ice cream shop, adds an extra layer of comfort and personalized hospitality.
Whether you’re enjoying a quiet dinner, sharing a lively meal with friends, or exploring new seafood sensations, La Concheria offers an unparalleled experience grounded in exceptional quality and heartfelt passion. It’s an indispensable culinary destination in Ensenada, promising dishes that are as memorable as the ocean views that inspire them.
This is one of the best, if not the best, meals of my life. The staff was incredibly friendly, the food and drink is all locally sourced as well as cooked and flavored to perfection. The atmosphere is cozy and intimate. The chef is humble and executed every dish perfectly. We left full and satisfied but not bloated. This will be a staple stop any time I visit Ensenada and I cannot wait until my next experience here.
Decent service. The food was really good and very fresh. They were also very accommodating letting us bring dessert from the ice cream place across from them. The oysters were very fresh and they had a variety of sauces to go with them. Both ceviches were good. Loved the Persian spin on the white fish and a classic take but with octopus, clams, and fish. Their spaghetti with abalone was great. Really simple pasta with butter but the abalone gives it that extra flavor that takes it from simply good to great.
Amazing food, Michelin star did not disappoint and the food was to die for, the black codfish was like butter! Order it!! Pesto pasta was amazing and probably the best meal I’ve had here
Got the fish of the day on potatoes and the fish ceviche to share. The fish in both were incredible in terms of preparation - would definitely recommend and would come back :)
This is a super high quality and legitimate restaurant not too fancy on appearance because they care more about legitimate quality and customer care vs marketing (which is exactly what I look for). I would highly recommend this to anyone that wants a real deal ultra fresh and quality seafood experience. Their stuff does not come from mercado negro it comes from better than that. I had amazing abalone and local catch sea-bass-like dish. See photos for location because it’s not easy to locate (as most legit places usually are). My food and service was truly amazing.
Delicious seafood, cold dishes got served fast, but the hot dishes took awhile. Environment is great. Rustic feel, brick road and walls. The agua chile was delicious.
Shared ceviche de pescado and enjoyed a glass of white. Absolutely recommend, so fresh, such delicious flavors. All in a cute, quiet setting. Will definitely be back.
Fenomenal place! Highly recommended if you want to try world class cuisine with local ingredients.
